Definition of Tennis Betting

Where is the best place to bet on tennis? How does somebody go about betting on tennis? What are the things to know about tennis betting?

Ask anybody who has seen a tennis match in person - tennis is one of the most exciting spectator sports in the world. Nothing will beat the drive of an epic five-set tennis match.

The meaning of the term Tennis Betting is explained by the King. For that reason, it's no surprise that tennis is also one of the most popular sports in the world to wager on.

One of the reasons behind this is that tennis is such an international sport. The sport's biggest stars hail from all different parts of the world, plus tennis is a relatively inexpensive game to play which makes it accessible to many people.

There are different ways that you can wager on tennis.

The most common is via a straight up wager, which is where you simply bet on who you think will win the match.

For instance, let's say that Rafael Nadal is playing Roger Federer in the finals of the US Open. The odds might look like this:

Rafael Nadal, 3.25
Roger Federer, 1.27

According to these odds, a successful wager on Nadal would return a total profit of $225, while a successful bet on Federer would return a profit of $27.

Now, you can also bet on who you will think will win, PLUS the number of sets that they will win in.

So, based on the line above, the set betting lines may look like this:

Rafael Nadal Wins 3-0, 9.00
Rafael Nadal Wins 3-1, 7.50
Rafael Nadal Wins 3-2, 4.75

Roger Federer Wins 3-0, 1.95
Roger Federer Wins 3-1, 2.45
Roger Federer Wins 3-2, 2.25

So, in this case, you are betting on the winner plus the number of sets that they will win in.

You can also bet on the total number of games that will be played in the match.

For instance, this line might look like this:

Under 29.5 Games, 1.95
Over 29.5 Games, 1.95

So, if you think that Federer is going to win in straight sets, you'd probably want to bet on the Under 29.5 Games line. Let's say that Federer wins 6-0, 6-4, 6-1. This would be a total number of games played of 23, which means that you would win your bet.

You can also bet using a game handicap, such as this:

Roger Federer, -7
Rafael Nadal, +7

This means that you would add up the total number of games won by each player in the match and then add/subtract the handicap.

So, if Federer won 6-0, 6-4, 6-1, you would easily win your bet if you took Federer -7, as he won by a total of 18-5.

Sportsbooks will also offer in-play betting, which means that you can bet on the outcome of a match once it has already started. This can be handy if you want to see how somebody is striking the ball before you place your bet.
