Definition of The Special One

What is the meaning of "The Special One" in the game of football?

"The Special One" is the self-proclaimed nickname of the Portuguese manager, Jose Mourinho.

Mourinho is one of the most famous football managers of present time. He has won countless trophies coaching Porto, Chelsea, Inter and Real Madrid. He is one of the few managers that has won the UEFA Champions League with two different clubs (Porto and Inter).

When Mourinho moved to Chelsea for the first time, in June of 2004, he became the highest paid manager in football. In the press conference that followed his appointment he said something along the lines of, "Please don't call me arrogant, but I'm European champion and I think I'm a special one,". Since that day, Jose Mourinho is known as "The Special One".
