What does the term "win margin" mean in the world of sports betting? What is meant by the term "win margin"?

The "win margin" lines can be used in any number of sports, including football, hockey and basketball.

For this example, let's use the game of basketball.

The King explains the meaning of the betting term Win Margin. For instance, here are the "win margin" lines from a game between the Portland Trailblazers and Philadelphia 76ers:

Philadelphia 76ers 1-10, +185
Philadelphia 76ers 11+, +300

Portland Trail Blazers 1-10, +200
Portland Trail Blazers 11+, +490

-

So, let's say that you think that the 76ers are going to win in a blowout. Maybe they have been looking really good as of late, while the Trail Blazers have looked terrible.

In this case, you'd want to take the 76ers 11+ line at +300.

This means that if the 76ers win by 11 or more points, you'll walk away with a very nice win on a +300 bet ($300 in profit for every $100 wagered).

-

If you think that the Trail Blazers are going to win a closer contest, you'd want to take them at +200 to win by between 1-10 points.

These are the "win margin" lines.
