The meaning of the popular term Yankee Bet is explained in this article. A horse photographed in the middle of a tense race is in photo. In the world of sports betting, a "Yankee Bet" is a popular type of bet in which a bettor places 11 bets that span a total of four different events.

These 11 bets consist of:

1. Six Doubles.
2. Four Trebles.
3. One fourfold accumulator.

Each of the 11 bets is treated separately and can win or lose independent of the rest of the ticket. So, if you were to do a £1 Yankee Bet ticket, the actual cost would be £11, as you would be putting down £1 for each of the 11 bets.

The difference between a "Yankee Bet" and a "Lucky 15" is that the "Lucky 15" includes four singles, which takes the total number of bets up to 15, from the Yankee Bet's 11.

Some people enjoy the "Yankee Bet" compared to a traditional accumulator because when a "Yankee Bet", you can get a selection incorrect and still end up getting some sort of a return on your ticket.

Let's break down what a "Yankee Bet" ticket would look like.

First, we need four different events to bet on. For simplicity's sake, let's call it Horse Race 1, Horse Race 2, Horse Race 3 and Horse Race 4.

Now, here are the horses that you like for each of the four races, as well as their odds to win:

Race 1 - Rock on Wood, 5.00
Race 2 - Vigor Winner, 7.00
Race 3 - Secret Allure, 4.50
Race 4 - The Mitigator, 3.50

Ok - now we build our Yankee Bet ticket. Remember - this ticket will feature a total of 11 bets: six doubles, four trebles and one fourfold accumulator.

So, the bets will look like this:

Double #1 - Rock on Wood, Vigor Winner to Win
Double #2 - Rock on Wood, Secret Allure to Win
Double #3 - Rock on Wood, The Mitigator to Win
Double #4 - Vigor Winner, Secret Allure to Win
Double #5 - Vigor Winner, The Mitigator to Win
Double #6 - Secret Allure, The Mitigator to Win

Treble #1 - Rock on Wood, Vigor Winner, Secret Allure to Win
Treble #2 - Rock on Wood, Vigor Winner, The Mitigator to Win
Treble #3 - Vigor Winner, Secret Allure, The Mitigator To Win
Treble #4 - Secret Allure, Rock on Wood, The Mitigator To Win

Fourfold Accumulator - Rock on Wood, Vigor Winner, Secret Allure, The Mitigator To Win

So, in order to figure out how much you would stand to win on this ticket, you must treat each bet separately and then add up the cumulative potential winnings.

For instance - the first Double would look like this:

5.00 * 7.00 * £1 Wager = £35 Potential Payout

Go down, line by line, and add up the potential winnings, and that is your maximum payout (note: some sportsbooks will give you an additional 10% if all of your Yankee Bet selections up end winning.)

With the Lucky 15, you can still see a return on your ticket if you only get one of your selections correct. With the standard Yankee Bet, if you only get one selection correct, you are not going to see a return.
