Sports Nicknames - The Tank

Carlos Henrique Casemiro is a professional footballer who plays for Manchester United and the Brazil national team in the defensive midfielder role. He is one of the world's best in this position and was one of the key players in the Zinedine Zidane's Real Madrid side who won four Champions League trophies in five seasons between 2014 and 2018.




Casemiro came through the yough system of Sao Paulo FC and earned a big contract with Real Madrid in 2013. His role on the team is to provide stability in midfield by supporting and freeing up his teammates to move up the pitch.

Casemiro has a powerful shot and is a hard tackler. He is strong and often acts as a wall in front of the four defenders. The Spanish newspaper Marca nicknamed him "The Tank" because of these qualities.

The Real Madrid midfield trio of Luka Modric, Toni Kroos and Casemiro was a very special one and quite possibly the best in the game.
