Sports Nicknames - Dave

Cesar Azpilicueta, the Chelsea right-back and Spain international is the product of Osasuna youth team. He moved to Marseille in 2010 after three years of playing in Spain and in 2012 he earned a contract at Chelsea where he has been since. He has played over 400 games for the Chelsea first team, which he now captains.



Cesar is not the type of player that seeks the spotlight, but that is probably one of his most admirable qualities. He is a complete player, strong with pace and always there where he is needed. He is part of a rock solid Chelsea defense and no stranger to running up the right side and assisting for goals. His cabinet is full of silverware including two Premier League and one Champions League trophy.

At Chelsea he got the nickname 'Dave' due to the inability of the English speaking players to pronounce his Spanish last name. He is one of the most capped Chelsea players only behind John Terry, Frank Lampard and Petr Cech.
