McGregor won his first 2 bouts before tearing his ACL. He continued the trend of success as he progressed, culminating in his record-breaking 13-second knockout of Jose Aldo for the UFC Featherweight Championship. Then he broke another record as he beat Eddie Alvarez for the UFC Lightweight Championship, becoming the first person to hold both titles at the same time.

It was here where McGregor started to expand his sights beyond UFC. He opened negotiations with Floyd Mayweather for a boxing match between the two. In that time, McGregor was stripped of his belts due to inactivity in them. While McGregor was praised for his early and successful attempts at taking down Mayweather, he still lost via TKO in the 10th round.

McGregor's "Notorious" nickname comes from his coach, as he was extremely difficult to train. It also extends to the many controversies he's been involved in: celebrating a victory too early at Bellator 187, attacking Khabib Nurmagomedov's bus, and assaults in Florida and Dublin.

Regardless of how good he is in the cage, Conor McGregor's career will be blemished by these controversies. But surely that's only appropriate for a man known as "The Notorious"?
