Sports Nicknames - The Admiral

David Robinson is one of the greatest NBA centers of all time. He spent his entire playing career with the San Antonio Spurs, scoring 20.790 points in 14 seasons from 1989 to 2003.



Nicknamed "the Admiral" for his active duty in the United States Navy, Robinson stood out with his height and atlhetic built in the 1990s. He won two NBA championships with the Spurs in 1999 and 2003 and the Most Valuable Player award in 1995. He is a two-time Olympic gold medal winner and a ten-time NBA All-Star.

The Admiral was inducted to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame twice, in 2009 individually and in 2010 as a member of the basketball "Dream Team".
