’Luis

Figo started his football playing days on the streets and sharpened his skills at the Sporting Clube de Portugal academy. A move to Barcelona FC came in 1995, where he spent 5 years playing alongside Ronaldo, Rivaldo and Kluivert. A Barcelona bitter rival Real Madrid was the next stop for the Portuguese player for at the time a record €62m contract. At Real Madrid, playing alongside Zinedine Zidane, Figo won the Champions League and played some of the best football of his career.

Inter Milan was the destination that followed for Figo, where he played under the well-known Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho. Luis Figo retired from playing professional football in Milan.

As a player, Luis Figo was elegant, smart and full of skill. He frequently used stepovers and feints when taking on opponents, which earned him the nickname 'El Paso Doble', which is a faced-paced Latin dance with quick movements and flamenco style footwork. This type of music is often played during bullfights.

Luis Figo, a 2000 Ballon d'Or winner, truly was one of the greatest players of his generation.
